The extinction crisis face to face
OBJECTIVES
The campaign which focused on the the whole of Mallorca was developed to to make schoolchildren aware of the importance of loving the flora and fauna around them. The campaign also highlighted the importance of not keeping wild animals in captivity and not acquiring exotic animals. In addition, there was a focus on the bad habits within society which affect nature and can lead to the the extinction of animals and plants if it is not managed.
DEVELOPMENT
The magazine “La crisi de l’extinció cara a cara” (The extinction crisis face to face) was created and published. An exhibition was organised in the Ca’n Gelabert culture centre (Binissalem) about plants and animals in danger of extinction. Various visual materials along with the real animals such as Mallorcan tortoises and other exotic animals which had been donated by the COFIB were also exhibited. It was completed with an audiovisual projection about our flora and fauna which is in danger of extinction.
MAGAZINES
10,000 animal magazines and posters were published and distributed to schoolchildren during visits to the exhibition.
PARTICIPANTS
A total of 4,720 schoolchildren from schools all over the island of Mallorca visited the exhibition.
