Traditional plants and their uses

OBJECTIVES

Knowledge of the natural environment including the species of flora and traditional uses.
To promote  respect for the environment.
To raise the environmental awareness of students and teachers  and  the development of sustainable  practices in the natural environment.

Development

A new magazine, “Plantes d’un temps” (Traditional plants and their uses), was created and published for  primary school pupils in Mallorca along with some posters Visits were made to places close to the villages or schools, in order to promote knowledge of the plants in their surroundings that have always been used for food, domestic or medicinal purposes. During the outings,  clean up activities of the the natural spaces were held to remove  plastic and other materials.

MAGAZINES

3,000 magazines and posters of the educational campaign were published, most of which were distributed to schools.

PARTICIPANTS

1,600 pupils from schools in Campanet, Consell, Bunyola, Binissalem, Llubí, Mancor de la Vall, Búger, Lloseta and Biniamar took part.
