OBJECTIVES

To teach 3rd, 4th, 5th and 6th grade primary school pupils about the species of flora and fauna of the coastal marine environment of the Balearic Islands, and also to promote interest in nature and its conservation. To make children aware of the need to take care of our environment.

DEVELOPMENT

Reprinting of the magazine “Balears i la mar” (The Balearic Islands and the Sea) and distribution to schools so that they can work on the concepts of the most characteristic fauna and flora of our environment. Outings with the schools of the Mancomunidad des Pla, Mancomunidad des Raiguer, Mancomunidad de Migjorn and Felanitx. The outings took place in suitable coastal areas: Son Serra de Marina and the coast of Colònia de Sant Jordi (beach des Carbó and finca de s’Avall).

PARTICIPANTS

1,500 schoolchildren from 18 schools in the Mancomunitat des Pla, Mancomunitat des Raiguer, Mancomunitat de Migjorn and Felanitx.
