ENVIRONMENTAL EDUCATION CAMPAIGN

2009/2010

Natural Mallorca

OBJECTIVES

To inform school children about our natural environment.
To promote respect for the environment.
To raise environmental awareness and good practices for the conservation of the island among pupils and teachers.

DEVELOPMENT

Magazines “Plantes de garriga” (Garriga plants), “Torrents de Mallorca”, “Tortugues S.O.S.” (S.O.S. Turtles), “La crisi de l’extinció cara a cara” (The extinction crisis face to face) and “Races autòctones” (Native breeds) were distributed.
20 visits were made to schools with a mobile garrigue garden and live turtles. 6 of these centres also went on outings to the torrents, and at the Alaró school there was a “toca-toca”(touch and feel) exhibition of indigenous domestic animals. indigenous –

MAGAZINES

18,000 magazines were distributed in the educational centres of the Mancomunitat des Raiguer and Mancomunitat des Pla.

PARTICIPANTS

A total of 2,500 schoolchildren from 36 villages in the Mancomunitat des Raiguer and Mancomunitat des Pla, Sa Pobla and Bunyola took part.
